Kyokushin kaikan (極真会館) is a style of stand-up, full contact karate, founded in 1964 by Sosai Masutatsu Oyama (大山倍達) Kyokushinkai is Japanese for "the society of the ultimate truth." Kyokushin is rooted in a philosophy of self-improvement, discipline and hard training. Its full contact style has had international appeal (practitioners have over the last 40+ years numbered more than 12 million).

Judo (meaning "gentle way") is a modern martial art, combat and Olympic sport created in Japan in 1882 by Jigoro Kano (嘉納治五郎). Its most prominent feature is its competitive element, where the objective is to either throw or takedown an opponent to the ground, immobilize or otherwise subdue an opponent.

Shin Shin Ryu Iai-jutsu is a traditional Japanese sword art dating back to the feudal period.  The current Soke (Soke Yamada) is the 11th in the line, with the Hombu in Takayama, Gifu Ken, Japan.  Outside side Japan we are lead by International Remecho Carl McClafferty.  Kaicho McClafferty is a retired Chief Border Patrol Agent and teaches in the Tucson Area.

Shodan Testing November 7th

This Saturday (November 7th), our friend Sempai Ye (Justin) Zhu will be testing for his Shodan (Black Belt) in Kyokushin (Kyokushinkai) Karate.  This is not fast or easy ordeal.  10 years of hard work all coming together.  at 12:30 pm will start the Kumite portion of his test, while most organisations/school require 10 fights he will be going for 25, this is after 2 plus hours of hard testing.  This will also be our first Shodan testing under the Bas-I Kyokushin Karate Organization.

Please come out and support Sempai on this day and  if you are willing join in on the kumite portion of his test.   As his Sensei/Teacher I am very proud!!

Vail Invitational Tournament Hosted By Vail TKD Acadamy

Osu

This Saturday 8 of our Kyokushin Karate students will  be participating in the Vail Invitational Tournament at the Rincon Vista Middle School.  This event is being put on by Master Wesley Lee and his Vail Taekwon Do Acadamy.  Doors open at 8:00 am, the students will be taking part inpoint sparing and forms.

We would like to thank Master Lee for inviting us, as our style is not known for these type of competitions.  Our goal is to spread our art (all arts) to as many people as possible and not wall our selves off based on style or organisational differences.  I am glad to see others believe is this as well, Osu!   This is a great step foreword and we hope to continue to build on this.

Please come out and show yours support for the kids, this is the first time they have taken part in this type of event and we hope to see future multi-style events soon!
